Who would have thought that a learning center could actually be fun? Irene’s Learning Center is the perfect solution for children or teenagers who are having any kind of trouble in school. It’s ideal for students who would like to excel in any subject, and for high school teens who would like to score high on their SAT’s. The Center is open 7 days a week in a quiet location in Northport. The hours are very accommodating and there is always the option of going to the center, or having the teacher come to you.
Since The Learning Center opened about eight months ago, the business has been growing tremendously. Hundreds of students have made dramatic improvements scholastically and the numbers continue to rise. Reputation and word of mouth helps a great deal, but the real proof is in the results. The motto of the Center is: “We Teach An Enthusiasm For Learning.” From the look of things, they certainly do a good job.
Irene Highbloom, a retired teacher, started this business herself, and literally lives for it. If you were to talk to her, you would see how much she truly cares about “her kids.” I’m sure her welcoming and kind personality helps the children feel comfortable and ready to learn. improvement. There are frequent contests within the center where prizes can be won as well. The children’s work is displayed which the children love. Irene believes on building a strong foundation for EVERY student. Getting to know each individual child and bringing them to their highest potential builds self-worth and confidence.
Irene has been a teacher and tutor for 34 years. She has her Bachelor of Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University, as well as her Masters from FDU and Montclair State College. Her son, Dr. Scott Hollander tutors math at the center part time, and her daughter Jessica, does some elementary tutoring, as well. Aside from her immediate family, she considers the people that she works with family too. There are over 25 certified, highly experienced teachers who love children and have plenty of patience. There is tutoring for all school subjects. The following are just some examples: Biology, all levels of math, Spanish, English, Global Studies, French, Earth Science, and Chemistry. Also, they will help students overcome any learning disabilities.
